In January 2024, Vietnamโ€™s preliminary statistics from the Vietnam Pepper Association (VPSA) indicate that the country exported a total of 17,537 tons of various types of pepper. Black pepper accounted for 15,434 tons, while white pepper reached 2,103 tons. The total export turnover amounted to 70.1 million USD, with black pepper contributing 59.0 million USD and white pepper 11.1 million USD. Compared to December, there was a 13.3% decrease in export volume and a 9.7% reduction in turnover.

The average export prices in January 2024 were 3,851 USD per ton for black pepper and 5,310 USD per ton for white pepper. This represented a 3.3% increase for black pepper and a 2.3% increase for white pepper compared to December 2023.

The United States remained the primary export market for Vietnamese pepper in January, with 4,774 tons, holding a 27.2% market share. However, this marked a 23.1% decrease compared to December. India ranked as the second-largest export market, reaching 1,367 tons, accounting for 7.8% and experiencing a 35.2% increase. Pepper exports to China decreased by 54.8%, reaching 466 tons.
